hei-risk data has developed a 1km resolution building exposure database for China. Using the latest and best available satellite, census and building costs data along with innovative geospatial analysis, more than 100 grids have been produced detailing the distribution of replacement costs of buildings throughout China. The grids are split by region (cities, towns and rural) and by building class (see tables below). These grids provide a base from which the total replacement costs of buildings can be aggregated up to for any desired region level.
China Exposure Classes
This table summarizes the different classes that are included in the China exposure database.
The China exposure database is categorized by line of business and includes the modelled replacement costs for buildings, the value of the building’s contents as well as the estimated cost caused by business interruption.
The building characteristics include building structure type, the building height (for China, this is in stroreys but it can be converted to metres if required) and also the occupancy types.

China Exposure Maps
Below are maps illustrating the distribution of aggregated exposure at Province level for China, combining the different classes per line of business (from top left to bottom right: agriculture, commercial, industrial and residential).
