A flexible provider of high-quality, high-resolution exposure data solutions for the industry to help reduce uncertainty and allow intelligent risk management decisions to be made with confidence.
What We Do
hei-risk data specializes in the development of exposure databases. With our experience within the industry, identifying the best available data and transforming it, using the most effective and efficient techniques in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and data management, we provide accurate data solutions to the problem of location of risk.
The process of running low resolution exposure data in high resolution catastrophe modeling platforms is both inefficient and expensive. Our goal is to produce exposure data tailored to your specifications, providing the necessary resolution to maximize the accuracy and efficiency of your catastrophe modelling tools.
hei-risk data is not looking to compete against other exposure database providers. Its products can be used as reliable data on its own, but it can also be used to help complement or validate alternative sources so that the user can be fully confident that they are using the best exposure data in the market.
Below are just a few services that we can provide, but please contact us if you have any task:

What We Do
With 15 years of experience specializing in data research, developing innovative techniques of spatial data analysis in the everchanging human and natural environment, many problems of working with spatial data relating to the global environment have been overcome. Consequently, we provide a personalized service with specialist expertise, independent of large organizations, and therefore flexible and responsive to meet client needs. Therefore, we hope you can benefit from the many advantages of working with hei-risk data, with just a few listed below:

What is an exposure database and why is it needed?
One of the biggest challenges in the reinsurance industry is to estimate the building construction cost replacement values for properties at risk from damage caused by natural catastrophic events. Due to climate change, the frequency of natural disasters around the globe is on the increase and it is becoming increasingly important for agencies and reinsurance companies to have the most accurate and up-to-date data available for risk assessment. An essential input when estimating the costs of damages to buildings caused by natural catastrophes is data detailing the location of buildings and their reconstruction values, known in the industry as an “exposure database”.
An exposure database can be regarded as a modelled representation of the “human built environment”. It can exist at different resolutions, but is normally aggregated to regional levels (such as post code, district or Cresta regions) to create a portfolio which can then be imported into catastrophe modelling platforms by the reinsurance companies. The data can then be analyzed to produce various outputs, such as modelled values of damaged building assets, to help the reinsurer make important financial business decisions.
Below is an example of what hei-risk can provide, it’s China Exposure Database 2023. By developing high resolution exposure databases, the data can be aggregated to any desired region level for catastrophe modelling analysis.

China Exposure Database 2023
This image illustrates the 1km resolution raster exposure grid for China. This example combines the 38 hei-risk data individual exposure grids for residential buildings that are split by construction type, occupancy type and building height.

This image shows an example where the 1km resolution grid data from above has been aggregated to China province level.
